Yoga for Wellness:

Healing with the Timeless Teachings of Viniyoga

Author: Gary Kraftsow ~ Purchase Yoga for Wellness at Barnes & Noble ~ Reviewed by Julie H.

Kraftsow is the founder of the American Viniyoga Institute and teaches in the Viniyoga lineage of T. Krishnamacharya and T.K.V. Desikachar.  What does that mean for the average reader interested in yoga?  It means that the reader will get solid, well designed information on practicing yoga safely, adapting yoga to the body and its individual needs and health issues.  If you follow the advice in this book, you can’t help but see a difference in how you feel physically and mentally.

Viniyoga is a style of yoga therapy.  Yoga really can change your life, and this book offers you a good start.  Kraftsow has collaborated with, among others, the Arthritis Foundation, and designed the back-care yoga program that was studied by the National Institutes of Health.  His program was found to significantly help relieve back pain.  This book was written before the study was designed, but there are yoga sequences in the book that deal with back and neck issues.
